More Secrets of the Gurus That You Don't Have To Pay One Red Cent For

Okay, the biggest things that the gurus tell you about is known as PPI or Pay Per Inquiry Advertising. I touched on it briefly before, but I want to elaborate. On pay per inquiry advertising, they charge you either a small fee for each and every inquiry or a larger percentage for each and every actual sale.

The media sets up a toll-free line and passes the leads on to you. You have to work the leads -- they won't.

What they don't tell you is that if you want to do a thirty minute commercial like the gurus, you have to prove that your product is viable. Otherwise, they won't touch it. But, if you want to do a thirty minute special on your product like they do, you can use this method of advertising. If you all really want me to give you the report on how to produce a tv commercial and the costs involved, let me know. If you don't, I'm going to skip it.

Did you ever look in your newspaper, magazine, etc. and notice they had an ad for themselves. Guess whose ad it should have been? That's right, yours. These are known as remnant ads and they usually go for 1/4 the cost of the regular price. But, you could also tell them that you will pay only so much for the ad, take it or leave it. (They'll usually take it if it's even close to reasonable.) The easiest way to do this is just mail your photo-ready ad in with the payment and write "This is what I will pay for placement of this ad." If they accept the payment, they have to publish your ad.

But, if you want to know the best method ever, (which I didn't learn from your regular gurus - I learned it from the one man I consider to be the home-based business expert of all time.) Then just recommend this e-zine to somebody and then e-mail me with "What's the best free method ever, Paul?" in the body of the letter. I'll let you know the best method I've ever seen.

Now, I'm going to tell you two places to get a free book that shows you all the important information (ad rates, closing dates, etc) on every form of media:

(If you've used your imagination, you've already figured out you could use some of the methods I've shown you to get "no up-front cost" ways of advertising by using these.)

After that, the gurus then tell you that when you get going, you need to have fulfillment companies do the work, so you can be freed up to advertise more. You already have forms of this on the internet with Amazon.com or CD-Now. I have a fulfillment site on Books, Kits, and Courses. (Which, by the way, if you haven't started getting your IWS subscription, you really should. For $24.00 a year, you will get your hands on some of the best information available, plus you can place a classified ad in it for every single issue. It's a bargain!)

The truth is, if you have created your own product, when you are first starting out, you don't need this. (Remember, I told you this e-zine will tell you the truth, and the truth is this creating your own business to set yourself on the road to freedom is not easy, at first. Down the road, you can set everything on auto-pilot.)

They also tell you how to get celebrities to advertise your product. I'm sorry, but I'm just not impressed with a celebrity telling me to buy the product. (Some people are, but I'm not.) If you really want to know how to get celebrities, (it'll cost you. Not the information from me, but the cost of the celebrity.) I'll find out for you and tell you how to do it. But, I'm still not convinced.

Next week, we'll look at even more info. In the meantime, while you read this following report, let your imagination expand to see if you can come up with even more ways to advertise for free.

The opportunities for getting free advertising for your product or services are limited only by your own imagination and energies. There are so many proven ways of promoting your own objectives without costs that it literally boggles the mind even to thing about beginning a list of them.

One way is to write an article relative to your particular expertise and submit it to all the publications and media dealing in the dissemination of related information. In other words, become your own publicity and sales promotions writer. Get the word you, establish yourself as an expert in your field, and "tag-line" everything you write with a quick note listing your address for a catalog, dealership opportunities or more information.

Another really good way is by becoming a guest on as many of the radio and television talk shows or interview type programs as possible. Actually, this is much easier to bring about than most people realize. What you do is write a letter to the producer of these programs, then follow-up with an in-person visit and a telephone call. You initial contact should emphasize that your product or service would be of interest to the listeners or viewers of the program - perhaps save them time and money.

Other ways of getting free or very inexpensive exposure include the posting of advertising circulars on all the free bulletin boards in your area, especially the coin operated laundries, grocery stores, and barber shops. Don't discount the idea of handing our circulars to all the shoppers in busy shopping centers and mails, especially on weekends. You can also enlist the aid of the middle school students in your area to hand out your circulars door-to-door.

Some of the less unusual methods include having a promotional ad relative to your product or service printed on the front or back of your envelopes at the time you have them printed with your return address.

Be sure to check all the publications that carry the kind of advertising you need... Many mail order publications just getting started offer unusually low rates to first time advertisers - a "free of charge" insertion of your ad when you pay for run over 3-issues...special seasonal ad space at greatly reduced prices... And, there are a number of publications that will give you Per Inquiry space where all the orders come in to the publication, they take a commission from each order and then forward them on to you for fulfillment.

Many publications will give you a contract for "standby" space - meaning that you send them you ad, they hold it until they have unsold space, and then at a price that's almost always one third or less then the regular price for the space you need, they'll insert you ad. Along these lines, be sure to check in with your suburban and neighborhood newspapers.

If you send out or publish any kind of catalog or ad sheet, get in touch with all the other publishers and inquire about the possibilities of exchange advertising. They run your ad in their publication in exchange for your running an ad for them of comparable size in your publication.

At the same time, be sure to check this idea out: Many mail order operators will include a quantity of your circulars with their outgoing mail if you'll do the same with circulars of theirs.

And, don't forget the opportunities involved when you agree to print and mail someone else's non-conflicting advertising on the back of the circulars you send out. You simply get the best price from your printer on printing one-sided circulars, add a little bit for the time it would take you to fold and stuff these circulars, then a little bit more for half what your postage costs are going to be, and then offer to print & mail other people's circulars with your outgoing mail for that kind of price.

For sure, every time that you receive something in the mail or order something, have a completely self-supporting mailing piece - a number of advertising circulars that you print on the backs of your own, paid for by the people wanting you to include their circulars with your own outgoing mail - and get it out to all the people sending you their offers.

Finally, there's nothing in the world that beats the low-cost and tremendous exposure you get when you advertise a free offer. Simply run an ad offering a free report of interest to most people - a simple one page report with a "tag-line" inviting the readers to send money for more information or detailed information, with a full page advertisement for your book or product on the backside - ask for an SASE, which of course stands for self-addresses, stamped envelope, and depending on the appeal of your report and the circulation of the publication in which your ad appears, you could easily be inundated with responses.

The trick here of course, is to convert all or a big percentage of these responses into sales. This is done via the "tag-line" inviting them to send for more information, plus the full page ad on the back of the report, and the other offers you include with the complete package you send back to them. As mentioned at the beginning of this report, it's only a matter of unleashing your imagination, so have at it and the best of luck to you!

A Couple More Things About Free Advertising:

I have located a couple more things about free advertising on the internet. You need to see the people at www.piyb.com.

They have a classified ad submitter that throws your ad out to 1307 sites. Plus, you can get your banner put on Yahoo! for free. Excellent place to start, if you want to do classifieds. (But don't forget to keep changing your ads at the regular Yahoo! site.

Towards Developing A Positive Attitude: Faking It!

You may have been hit by a frigid dose of reality by now when trying to start your new journey. Quite simply, it ain't easy. But, remember, I didn't promise you a rose garden.

But, I'm going to teach you a couple of tricks that might not only make your life a little easier in business, but in everything. >

You may have read all the positive thinking books out there, but you might not have quite grasped the key behind it. In the Bible, it says, "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." Now, that can be interpreted several ways, but the one I want you to focus on is best described this way: "If you state a lie long enough and loud enough, it will become the truth."

That statement has been credited to many infamous men, (including Hitler), but that's not the point. The point is if you don't have the confidence to keep going, there is one thing you can do. Fake It!

When you fake it, the chemistry in your brain tries to process this new "truth." (Same thing with visualization. By the way, you got your dream on the refrigerator yet?) On top of that, if people believe you are confident, they will start to reinforce that belief by acting like you are confident. Then the environment joins your chemical reactions, and guess what? (That's right, you have achieved confidence.)

The problem is that you have to start focusing on what you want to achieve. Not just for a moment, but constantly. Now, that does not mean that from time to time you are not going to get down.

But, the trick to overcoming that is set a time limit on how long you will be done about it. Set it to the exact minute when you will stop dwelling on the bad. Then start focusing on looking at the way you would like to see things. There is nothing wrong with getting down, as long as you pull yourself out of it.

One last thing: too many times we feel guilty about having done or not done certain things in life. Let me give you two clues on how to handle that. If you're going to feel guilty, don't do it. (Here's the other half:) If you're going to do it anyhow, then enjoy it.

What Every CPA and Business Owner Ought To Know....

About Increasing Cash Flow Without Borrowing

Cash flow is one of the main reasons businesses fail. At one time or another, every business, even successful ones, have experienced poor cash flow. Cash flow does not have to be a problem any more. Don't be fooled-banks are not the only place you can get funding. Other solutions are available and you don't have to borrow.

One solution is called factoring. Factoring is the process of selling accounts receivable to an investor rather than waiting to collect the money from the customer.

Factoring has the ironic distinction of being the financial backbone of many of America's most successful businesses. Why ironic? Because factoring is not taught in business colleges, seldom mentioned in business plans and is relatively unknown to the majority of American business people, yet it is a financial process that frees up billions of dollars every year, enabling thousands of businesses to grow and prosper.

Factoring has been around for thousands of years. Factors are investors who pay cash for the right to receive the future payments on your invoices.

A receivable or an invoice, which has not been paid yet has value. It is a debt your customer has agreed to pay in the near future.

While factoring deals exclusively with business-to-business transactions, a large percentage of the retail business uses a factoring principal. MasterCard, Visa, and American Express all use a form of factoring in their retail transactions. Using the purest definition of the word, these large consumer finance companies are really just large factors of consumer paper.

Think about it: you make a purchase at Sears and charge it to your MasterCard. The store gets paid almost immediately, even though you don't make payment until you are ready. For supplying this service, the credit card company charges Sears a fee (typical fees range from 2 to 4 % of the sale).

Factoring can offer many benefits to cash hungry companies. Instead of having to wait 30, 60, 90 days or longer for payment on a product or service that has already been delivered, a business can factor (sell) its receivables for cash at a small discount off the amount of the invoice. Payroll, marketing efforts, and working capital are just a few of the business needs that can be met with this instant cash.

Factoring provides the means for a manufacturer to replenish inventory and make more products to sell without having to wait for earlier sales to be paid. . Factoring isn't just a cash management tool for manufacturers. Almost any type of business can benefit from factoring.

Generally, a business that extends credit will have 10% to 20% of its annual sales tied up in accounts receivable at any given time. Think for a moment how much money is tied up in 60 days worth of invoices, you can't pay the power bill or this week's payroll with a customer's invoice, but you can sell that invoice for the cash to meet those obligations.

Factoring is a fast and easy process. The factor buys the invoice at a discount, usually a few percentage points less than the face value of the invoice.

People consider the discount a small cost of doing business. A four percent discount for a 30 day invoice is common. Compared with the problem of not having cash when you need it to operate, the four percent discount is negligible. Look at the factor's discount as though your business had offered the customer a discount for paying cash. It works out the same.

Companies consider the discount the same way they treat a sales price. It's just the cost of generating cash flow, much like discounting merchandise is the cost of generating sales.

Factoring is a cash flow tool used by a variety of businesses, not just those who are small or struggling. Many companies factor to reduce the overhead of their own accounting department. Others use factoring to generate cash, which can be used to expand marketing efforts and increase production.

Factoring is especially appealing to young and rapidly growing companies. Since the process shortens their business cycle, these businesses can grow faster. The ability to make more products to sell while waiting for invoices to be paid is largely eliminated. Such businesses usually net much more profit with factoring than without, even when the discount is considered.

So, why wouldn't a business just go over to their friendly banker for a loan to help them through their cash flow problems? Getting a loan can be difficult if not impossible, especially for a young, high-growth operation, because bankers are not expected to decrease lending restrictions soon. The relationships between businesses and their bankers are not as strong or as dependable as they used to be

The impact of a loan is much different than that of the factoring process on a business. A loan places a debt on your business balance sheet, costing you interest. By contrast, factoring puts money in the bank without creating any obligation and frequently the factoring discount will be less than the current loan interest rate. Loans are largely dependent on the borrower's financial soundness, whereas factoring is more interested in the soundness of the client's customers and not the client's business itself. This is a real plus for new businesses without established track records.

There are many situations where factoring can help business meet its cash flow needs. By providing a continuing source of operating capital without incurring debt, factoring can provide growth opportunities that can dramatically increase the bottom line. Virtually any business can benefit from factoring as part of its overall operating philosophy.

Every good businessperson must understand the concept and benefits of factoring in order to operate as profitably as possible. The following chart can help you understand the differences between factoring and other sources of funding.
